Evaluation is an essential step in successfully administering CED&P's Student Competitions. Our Evaluation team members and Volunteers assess student submissions to generate feedback for educational outcome improvement as well as determine the competition results.
Evaluation

Competition Assessment

Purpose
The core aim of evaluation is to provide Faculty Advisors and students with feedback that allows them to develop as well as improve. Although the improvement of educational outcome remains the most important objective of evaluation, the process is also essential for determining the results of the competition events. As there is not an obvious “right” answer, we employ a specific set of criteria to evaluate performance as we review each component of student work. This framework ensures the evaluation is able to provide a fair and reliable method for assessing student work in a competitive setting.

Empowering Evaluators
We provide constant training to our evaluation team and volunteers to ensure that they are familiar with the CED&P evaluation process for each competition event. By leveraging the technology of an online submission system and evaluation program, we empower our evaluators to be involved virtually. The ability to complete evaluations remotely allows our volunteers who are traveling professionals to participate in the process. Our Evaluation team is paving the way for utilization of state-of-the-art methods to evaluate and delivery of quality feedback.

Evaluation Volunteers
Profile Of An Evaluation Volunteer
Evaluation volunteers come from a range of backgrounds. They help make the magic happen by supporting our Evaluation team to provide assessment for the program's competitive events through the school year.

CED&P Alumni
CED&P involvement doesn't have to end after high school. Graduating students can remain involved as part of our community. Many alumni reflect on the fond memories of being in the program and wish to give back. Alumni who have moved away from New York State have also continued their involvement as Evaluation Volunteers remotely. Help lend a hand in mentoring the next generation.

H.S. Students
High school participants are encourage to be involved in the evaluation process since it can provide insight into ways to improve their own performance. Sophomores through seniors can volunteer to evaluate Early Division submissions after completion of their training. Volunteering as an Evaluator may count towards schools' community service requirements.

CED&P Supporters
Faculty Advisors, educators, former Faculty Advisors, college students, and adults passionate about our mission can volunteer.
Faculty Advisors may evaluate divisions that their teams are not competing within. Evaluating can be a good way for Faculty Advisors to familiarize with the program, gain in-depth experience, network, and connect with our community.
